Father and son: Star Wars fans forever
October 29th, 2009 by Gila
The transformation is complete – my little man is just like his father. Brian can proudly say he has a mini-me.
Brian has been trying since the kids were about two years old to make Doran a Star Wars fan. Doran received Brian’s Star Wars action figures collection at an early age and promptly lost most of them. Luckily, he managed to hold onto most of the Star Wars spaceships he inherited. And, he seems to be happy to be a little version of Brian. It’s cute to see Brian and Doran play-fighting each other with light sabers around the house (even though I’ve told them no light saber fights in the house). I really think Brian had kids so he could relive his childhood. Even though he gets tired of playing the same video game over and over with him, I know Brian enjoys hearing Doran squeal with happiness at the chance to play Lego Star Wars on the Wii again.
Anyway, “the boys” have a big outing this weekend. Not as big as their adventure this past May at Star Wars weekends at Hollywood Studios in Orlando (which is where the photo was taken). But, this weekend’s event will still be exciting for Doran: Brian bought tickets to Star Wars: In Concert. It’s supposed to be pretty amazing – even George Lucas was impressed by it. And, as I understand it, George Lucas is not easily impressed.
Thanks to Brian’s influence, Doran is one of the few kids I know that is into Star Wars. Most of them are excited by today’s action movies and stars. Even though Doran is also into Transformers, Ninja Turtles, Spiderman and Batman, anything related to Star Wars is his favorite. He’s got every Star Wars Lego spaceship ever made, a Darth Vader costume, a Stormtrooper costume, his father’s action figure and spaceship collection and several different kinds of light sabers. So, you can imagine what he’ll be wearing for Halloween this year.
Brian is so excited about the event this weekend, probably more than Doran, as usual. He thinks Doran’s “head will explode” after seeing all the cool Star Wars movie clips and hearing the music by the orchestra. I’m pretty sure that will be Brian’s head we’ll hear exploding, though.
Are you a die-hard Star Wars fan? Are you going to see Star Wars: In Concert? Share your review here in the comments – I would love to hear what you think.

how totally awesome! I was a huge star wars fan when I was younger and look forward to sharing the movies and memorabilia with my daughter when she’s old enough!
